The Domestic Violence Unit was created in July 2002 using special federal and state grants to improve courthouse services for victims of domestic violence.

The Domestic Violence Unit is generally responsible for assisting the public, answering questions, and helping victims of domestic violence with regard to protective orders, court dates, show cause hearings, protective order extensions, and protective order violations.
